Over 40 Powerful New Features
Opening Fusion Studio 9.
We will learn the 4 main windows of the software, how to add tools also known as nodes and how to import footage. We will also see how to work with the color inspector. When making your first steps in any kind of a software, it’s important that you get yourself familiarized with its graphic user interface. You’ll benefit from saving time as you go deeper into the software because you won’t need to look around for the tools you need. And at the end of this lesson you’ll understand and see the importance of navigating through the software, knowing how to import the footage properly and how to add tools from the tool selection window.
Basic Rotoscoping In Fusion Studio 9.
In this lesson we will explore the polygon mask tool for the first time. We will use it to cut the candle out from its background. We will also see how to work with the resize node in Fusion Studio 9. We will work with the color curves and the merge node for the first time. Since many image resources comes in various format sizes, understanding how to work the resize tool is a great asset to have. And we will see some of the main features that the Polygon rotoscoping tool has to offer.
Transform And Color Correction Nodes.
In this lesson we will create a contact shadow to the candle we composited in the previous lesson. We will see how to work with a background node, that will give us a solid color, and we will use another polygon mask node in order to create the desired contact shadow. The background node is a great asset to have in your compositions because it allows you to work with solid colors and manipulate them whenever you need. The merge node is probably one of the most important nodes in Fusion Studio 9. Knowing how to work with this node is very important and it’ll put you ahead of other artists that only know how to operate the node on a basic level.
More Roto-Shapes And The Color Curves Nodes.
In this lesson we will use the still image of the candle again to create the shadows on the candle to indicate the proper light direction. We will utilize the same candle still image and more polygon tools to create the shadow. We will also use the Color Correction node in order to control the new shadow’s color and have a better blend. You need to keep in mind that if you know how to create believable shadows in comp, then your shot will look more convincing!
Adding The Flame Element.
Now we will add the flame element that is also part of the course materials. This time we will have to re-adjust the wick’s shape because we need it to fit to the flame element that is provided to you within the course materials. We will also use another Color Curves node in order to help the flame element blend better in our Fusion Studio 9 composition.
Adding Vignette And Film Grain.
In this final lesson we will see how to add some film grain, a vignette and how to render out from Fusion Studio 9. In order to render we will explore the Saver Node. Adding these final effects will help make your shot look more natural and real. It will also help you to master the saver node!
Matchmoving in Fusion Studio 9
The Camera Tracker Node
This course is all about camera tracking in Fusion 9. In this first lesson you will see the camera tracker node, see how to import the footage and see how to set the preview tracking locations within Fusion 9.
The Auto Tracking Process
Now it’s time to work the auto tracking process in Fusion 9. You will be able to prepare the scene to the next step which is the camera solve. Knowing how to set up the trackers properly and how to work with the proper tracking channel, tracker pattern sizes and even how to change the trackers color for better visibility.
Working on the Camera Parameters
In this lesson we will work on the camera parameters to make sure that the camera solution will be the most accurate one. It is imperative to know which parameters needs to be changed, otherwise the camera solution may not be the correct one.
Solving the Camera and cleaning the solve
In this 4th lesson, we will see how to run the solve and how to make sure that the solve error factor will be less than 1 pixel. Remember that the pixel error factor should always be less then 1 and it will indicate that the camera solved properly. We also going to see how to set the solve weight to each tracker and how to get rid of problematic trackers.
Exporting the Solved Camera
Now it’s time for you to see how to export our matchmoved scene and what happens to the flow chart when we do. We will see what new nodes were created and we will take a quick look at Fusion 9’s 3D space.
The Planar Tracking Node
Now we will add the flame element that is also part of the course materials. This time we will have to re-adjust the wick’s shape because we need it to fit to the flame element. We will also use another Color Curves node in order to help the flame element blend better in this Fusion Studio 9 composition.
Chroma Keying in Fusion 9
This course is about understanding how an Alpha Channel works and how we can build it in Fusion 9. In this first lesson you will learn how an Alpha channel works and how to start the project within Fusion 9.
Alpha Channel - Explained
This course is about understanding how an Alpha Channel works and how we can build it in Fusion 9. In this first lesson you will learn how an Alpha channel works and how to start the project within Fusion 9.
Building the Alpha Channel
Now it’s time to continue with building our own alpha channel by rebuilding the formula for an alpha channel for green screen by using more nodes in Fusion 9.
The Delta Keyer and Clean Plate Nodes
In this lesson we will take a small break from our handmade keyer and we will see how the Delta Keyer and the clean Plate nodes work with our green screen footage.
Our Own Keyer - Channel Separation
In this lesson we will apply everything we’ve learned so far. WE will see how to separate the channels from the green screen footage and how to combine them together in order to get our manually generated alpha channel.
Our Own Keyer - Applying the New Alpha Channel
In this lesson we will see how to apply our newly generated alpha channel into the original green screen footage. We will also see how to start combining the background image with our newly chroma keyed shot.
Restoring Lost Details
In this lesson you’ll see how to restore edge details that were lost during our keying process. We will be using the green screen footage, a mask and the background in order to restore some of the edge details.
Creating Depth
In this lesson we will see how to utilize one of the color channels of the background in order to generate a depth map and use it to give our project some depth and create separation between the foreground and the background.
Fine Tuning and Color Correction
In this last lesson we will tackle the green spill issue and we will make sure that our background matches in grain and noise to the foreground element which is the green screen footage. After we accomplish that we will be ready to render out our project.
